FROM INVOICE TO PROFIT AND TAXES

Revenue Alone Does Not Show What You Earned

A full schedule or a strong deposit month can still hide what you actually made after subcontractors, payroll, software, equipment, and owner draws. Reconciled books show which work is profitable and what to set aside for taxes, and a CPA who has seen returns from the IRS side makes sure the year-end filing matches.

You can start with one task, such as a business return or a planning session, or with monthly bookkeeping.

5 out of 5 stars

“Found Jessica online, and so glad I did. She’s really supported my small business, even helping me transition from an LLC to an S-Corp. She’s always communicative and professional, and gives so much more of a personable experience than large firms. She has vast knowledge and even worked for the IRS. She knows her stuff. Highly recommend.”

Questions Service Business Owners Ask

Do I Need Monthly Bookkeeping?

If you have more than a handful of transactions a month, contractors, or employees, monthly books save time and catch problems early. Bookkeeping starts at $500 per month and can be cancelled at any time.

How Much Should I Pay Myself?

It depends on how your business is taxed. Sole proprietors take draws; S corporation owners need a reasonable salary through payroll. A $600 planning session can set the right number.

Do I Need to Send 1099s to Contractors?

Generally, yes, when you pay an unincorporated contractor for services above the IRS reporting threshold during the year. Collect a Form W-9 before the first payment so year-end filing is easy.

Should My Business Become an S Corporation?

It can reduce self-employment tax once profit is well above a reasonable salary, but it adds payroll and a separate return. See the S corporation page for an example.

Do My Services Owe Texas Sales Tax?

Some do. Texas taxes certain services, such as data processing, information services, and some property services like landscaping and janitorial work, while many professional services are not taxable. Jessica can review your services and handle the filings.

Can You Work With My Industry?

Jessica works with consultants, agencies, professional practices, and home and field service firms. If your business is different, ask on the fit call.
