LIFE CHANGES CHANGE YOUR RETURN

Did Something Change This Year?

A new job, a side business, a rental, a move, or a retirement can change your return more than you expect. Jessica prepares individual returns with the full picture in view and explains the result before filing, so fewer surprises come later.

She starts with last year’s return and the forms you expect this year, so the scope and fee are clear before work begins.

WHAT CHANGED FOR YOU?

Common Reasons Your Return Looks Different

These are the changes that most often catch people off guard at tax time.

Started a Side Business or Freelance Work

Self-employment income means Schedule C, self-employment tax, and often quarterly estimated payments.

Bought or Sold a Home or Rental

A sale, a new mortgage, or rental income changes what you report and what you can deduct.

Married, Divorced, or Had a Baby

Your filing status, credits, and withholding may all change.

Military Move or Deployment

A PCS move often raises state residency questions for service members and spouses. Military families are welcome.

Retired or Started Social Security

Retirement distributions and Social Security change how much tax you owe and how you should withhold.

Sold Investments or Received Company Stock

Sales of stock, crypto, or company shares need cost basis records to be reported correctly.

5 out of 5 stars

“I highly recommend Jessica if you’re looking for a CPA. I went into the process with zero knowledge about taxes, and she made everything feel manageable. She’s incredibly helpful, patient, and knowledgeable, and you can tell she genuinely cares about doing things the right way for her clients. She really takes pride in her work and makes sure you’re set up in the best way possible.”

“My taxes were a bit of mess when I found Jessica. Since working with her, I’ve felt so confident about how everything is structured now. I have an LLC S-corp so it’s not a easy task to get it straightened out but she managed it with ease. I can’t recommend her enough!”

“Found Jessica online, and so glad I did. She’s really supported my small business, even helping me transition from an LLC to an S-Corp. She’s always communicative and professional, and gives so much more of a personable experience than large firms. She has vast knowledge and even worked for the IRS. She knows her stuff. Highly recommend.”

Individual Tax Questions

How Much Does an Individual Return Cost?

Individual returns start at $500. A return with a Schedule C for self-employment starts at $1,200. Rentals, investment sales, and extra state returns can raise the fixed fee, which you receive before work begins.

What Documents Do I Need?

Start with last year’s return and this year’s forms: W-2s, 1099s, 1098s, K-1s, and records of income and expenses for any business or rental. The tax checklists list them in detail.

I’m in the Military. Which State Do I File In?

It depends on your state of legal residence, which usually does not change with a PCS move. Federal law also protects a military spouse’s residency in many cases. Texas has no state income tax, but your home state may. Jessica reviews your situation before preparing your returns.

Can You Fix a Return I Filed Myself?

Yes. Jessica amends prior-year returns no matter who prepared them. An amended return is priced the same as preparing that return.

Do I Need to Meet in Person?

No. Most clients work with Jessica through a secure virtual process, with phone or video meetings and SmartVault for documents.

What If I Get an IRS Letter After Filing?

Do not ignore it. Jessica offers a flat $250 first notice review, completed within 3–5 business days.
